» Listings for April 2010Posted on Wednesday Apr 28 8:05:00 BST 2010 With a couple of days of warm nights and days we finally have some leaves coming out on the trees I don't think I remember such a late spring or such a dry April it has been a nightmare for us growing. But after a huge sowing and pricking out effort from my new employees were catching up and have plenty of nice plants coming through now. some of the Tomato seed we have been waiting on from America has arrived and been sown particularly the Super Sioux that has become the most popular tomato all of a sudden due to the Which article. We have had delays to orders due to the lateness of plants but we anticipate keeping delays to a minimum with the extra staff to get the orders out. Posted on Friday Apr 16 8:35:00 BST 2010 We are getting extremely busy now sales for April so far are around 40% up on last year and we have taken on two new staff so far to cope with the demand and will take on more if necessary the thing that's holding us back now is the weather I had to start sowing so late this year because any sooner and we would have certainly lost plants if they had even germinated but we have sown hundreds of trays extra this week and are catching up fast so as soon as plants are ready we will be shipping them I don't remember the last time spring was this late even now mid April we barely have any leaves showing in North Cornwall although it is much greener further down In Cornwall where we were last weekend. So this has had a major effect on us growing. Please note Tomatoes, Peppers and Aubergines will not be ready until late April/Early May as will some other plants we have been struggling to get plants ready after the long cold winter and late spring things have only really started growing with the better light levels following the clocks changing so please be patient we will get plants to you as soon as they are ready or e-mail us to check availability so it may be best to mark orders for delivery in May onwards now as we already have a large number of April orders we had to prioritise sowing to what would take the longest to grow as everything needed sowing at once. Posted on Friday Apr 9 8:03:00 BST 2010 We are taking a short break away for the weekend so I can recuperate properly from my op to untrap a nerve in my arm on Wednesday we will be back Monday night and will answer any queries on our return
